Century, one of Buick's most popular models over the years, is being offered in a final limited production run for 2005 before making way for the all-new LaCrosse premium midsize sedan.
Continuing its quality reputation, Century was recognized by J.D. Power and Associates as No. 1 in the Premium Midsize Car segment in 2004 in the firm's prestigious Initial Quality Study. Buick, which consistently does well in independent quality studies, was ranked No. 5 among 37 brands in the overall Power IQS rankings.
To commemorate its final year, the 2005 Century is offered in an extensively equipped Special Edition Package.
Standard functional features include dual-zone automatic temperature control, P225/60R16 touring blackwall tires on 16-inch chrome-plated aluminum wheels, and four-wheel anti-lock brakes.
Each Special Edition Century is identified by a chrome grille with a revised Buick tri-shield emblem, as well as rear badging signifying it as the top model in the Century range. Century Special Edition is offered in Sterling Silver Metallic, Cashmere Metallic and Cardinal Red Metallic, as well as a new exterior color for 2005: Glacier Blue Metallic.
Build to suit
Century continues to be available in three other trim packages: Standard, Custom and Limited. Each provides exceptional value by combining popular features and content into attractively priced groupings. In addition, each package is augmented by a wide selection of stand-alone options, enabling customers to further tailor Century to their specific requirements.
The Standard Package on the 2005 Century includes four-wheel power disc brakes, dual-zone climate control, six-passenger seating, remote keyless entry, power-programmable door locks with enhanced safety and lockout protection, PASS-Key II theft deterrent system, tilt-adjustable steering column, full instrumentation, air-filtration system, AM/FM audio system with CD player, and power windows with a driver's express-down feature.
Every Century is also equipped with Buick's Convenience Plus package that adds delayed entry and exit lighting, interior light theater-style dimming, flash-to-pass control, battery rundown protection, auxiliary power outlet, and daytime running lamps.
Standard Package options include four-wheel anti-lock brakes, six-way power driver's seat, cruise control, audio system with CD plus cassette player, OnStar safety and security system, engine block heater and color-keyed floor mats.

Power, safety, security
Century is equipped with a 3100 3.1L V-6 engine that delivers 175 horsepower (130 kw) at 5200 rpm and 195 lb.-ft. (264 Nm) of torque at 4000 rpm. It is coupled to GM's proven Hydra-Matic 4T65-E automatic transaxle for excellent overall performance. Century's estimated fuel economy is 20 mpg in city driving and 29 mpg on the highway.
In addition to a full line of convenience features, Century also comes with an extensive list of safety features.
Century has dual-stage frontal air bags for supplemental protection for front seat passengers. Dual-stage frontal air bags are designed to help reduce the risk of air bag-induced injury. When the air bag system's control unit detects an impact, it determines whether the crash is severe enough to trigger a deployment, and whether the primary amount of inflation is sufficient. The primary stage alone will deploy in most frontal impacts requiring the supplemental protection of an air bag, while a secondary stage is designed to deploy in more severe frontal collisions.
A driver's side-impact air bag is available with leather-appointed seating.
Century is equipped with LATCH (Lower Anchors and top Tethers for CHildren) system anchors for child safety seats in all three rear seating positions. This system provides two lower anchors and a top tether anchor to be used to secure a child seat to the vehicle seat structure. These anchorages are designed to make it easier to properly install compatible child safety seats.
When Century customers opt for GM's OnStar system, a first-year subscription to OnStar's Safe & Sound service comes with it. OnStar is the leading provider of in-vehicle safety, security and information services in the United States and Canada. Using the GPS satellite network and wireless cellular technology, OnStar features core safety services and OnStar Personal Calling that allows drivers to make and receive hands-free, voice-activated phone calls using a powerful three-watt analog system and external antenna for greater reception.
